Today, Dr. Todor Chobanov, Deputy Mayor of Sofia Municipality, and Prof. Kostadin Kostadinov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, opened a discussion on the Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization of Sofia (ISSS) and its Creative and Re-creative Industries priority, held in the Sofia City Art Gallery. The discussion was held within the framework of the "Quintuple Helix" project and the GIS Transfer Centre, funded by Sofia Municipality under the "Europe" Programme jointly with the Fund for Innovations in Culture.

The members of the ISSS Development Expert Group Svetlana Lomeva, Prof. Roumen Nikolov, Zlatina Karova and Prof. Georgi Raychevski presented the draft strategy. Representatives of various creative industries, universities, and business companies took part in the discussion, moderated by Sevdalina Voynova, Sofia Development Association. The possibilities for creating a centre of excellence in this area, the potential for innovation and business, bearing the title of "Sofia – a UNESCO Creative City of Cinema", and the strong sides of the innovation ecosystem in the creative industries in the capital city were discussed.
